Catholic Churches for destination weddings

If you are planning on a having a Catholic ceremony for your wedding , we are going to list a few churches, we have decided on a few churches based on location, this are churches that are close to hotel zones, since we believe this will make it less complicated when it comes to move guests even tough there are transportation services available sometimes it is best to keep it close.  There are some hotels that do have within their properties a small chapel making it even more comfortable for you and your guests and avoiding  traveling long distances. We will be listing those  and non resort chapels on another post, so keep on reading !

          Cancun
  • Cristo Resucitado Church   -this church is located on the hotel zone.
  • Universidad la Salle Chapel - this chapel is a bit far from the hotel zone but many couples preferred it because its air conditioned.
  •
    Playa del Carmen
  • Nuestra Señora del Carmen  Church
  • Chapel Nuestra Señora del Carmen - located on 5th avenue.
          Isla Mujeres
  • Inmaculada Concepcion Church - only catholic church downtown.

Catholic Destination Weddings In Cancun

Having a catholic ceremony for your destination wedding in Cancun or the Riviera Maya should not be complicated, the only thing to take into account is that all documents should be completed and ready and sent to your wedding coordinator three months before the ceremony is to take place. There are a few hotels that have a lovely Chapel within their grounds were you can have your ceremony or you can chose to have your ceremony at local churches that are close by your hotel or reception venue.  We will be listing those Churches and Chapels in a while, but before I go on I have to say that my favorite if such a term is accepted when you are talking about Chapels and Churches, has to be Chapel Nuestra Señora  del Carmen, this is a small Chapel located in 5th avenue in Playa del Carmen, across form the bus terminal, it is beautiful, small , charming  and close to the ocean.  But any way here are a few details regarding the requirements in order to have a catholic ceremony:

  • Certified Birth , Baptism and Confirmation Certificates.
  • Passports
  •  A letter from Your local Priest address to the Priest of the Church were you wedding is taking place, authorizing you to marry in Mexico.
  • Name of Parents and Witnesses.
  • Passport copies of the Witness .
  • Home address and occupations of parents and witnesses.
  • Declaration of single status of the Bride and Groom .
  • All Pre cana requirements and classes must be completed.
  • Administrative fee.
Your wedding coordinator should be able to provide you with more information regarding the requirements for this type of ceremony.  Or give us call and we will always be glad to provide more info on the subject.
